Having been born and raised in Jackson, I am a proud product of the Hinds County Head Start Program and Jackson Public Schools, where I attended Mary C. Jones Head Start, John Hopkins Elementary School, Walton Elementary School and Rowan Middle School. I am also an esteemed alumnus of the historical Piney Woods Country Life School, a graduate of Denison University, a four year liberal arts school, and a graduate of Mississippi College School of Law. Furthermore, I am a proud supporter of our Mississippi Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). I am a daughter of Jackson. I chose to live in my hometown because I believe in Hinds County.
Raised by a single parent until age fourteen, and later raised by my seventh grade reading teacher and her husband from age fourteen until law school, I know and understand the importance of keeping children and families safe, secure and stable. As a mom of a beautiful daughter, I live it daily. I know and understand the needs of Hinds County.
I began my legal career in Hinds County, championing the rights of injured workers. Alongside my fight for injured workers, I served as a volunteer attorney with Mission First and other pro bono agencies. My interactions with families helped me realize my passion–children and families. When I opened my solo practice, I purposely specialized in family law. Fighting for families and children is tough. It takes a lot of grit and tenacity. Those successful fights led to my position at the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, I fought for justice, safety, and security for the citizens of Hinds County. I received guilty verdicts from jury trials involving sex crimes, home invasions, and murder. My seasoned experience as a trial attorney coupled with my life experiences placed me on the natural path to serve as your Hinds County Chancery Court Judge.
As your Hinds County Chancery Court Judge, I am dedicated to Hinds County and have been dedicated to its residents throughout my extensive career. I approach each person and each family's case with fairness and impartiality. I also remain committed to the community by inspiring and guiding the next generation of leaders through mock trial camps, speaking engagements, and other community initiatives. I am truly proud of my work and involvement throughout the community and law practice in Hinds County.
